Garmisch-Partenkirchen,
Germany
I absolutely love cycling through Germany and even more so in
the southern part around Bavaria (Munich). Take a typical Bavarian
town, stick it in the mountains and you've got Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
Though actually two separate towns, the combined population of
Garmisch-Partenkirchen totals 25,000. How can one not like the
views, especially when the majestic peak of Zugspitze nearby?
At 2,962 meters, the spectacular Zugspitze claims bragging rights
to being Germany's tallest mountain. Good time was had cycling
and hiking in the area. Though
a few miles from town, the Renaissance Riessersee Hotel provides
typical upscale accommodations found at Marriott properties.
