Gstaad, Switzerland
Other ski resorts visited in Switzerland have more dramatic views
of the mountains than Gstaad but, this place scores high on the
pizzazz scale. Evidently there're strict building ordinances
here as all the stunning chalets seem to have the same look.
The attractive main shopping street
through town is car-free
and includes quite a few big name boutiques. Head a few blocks
out of town and it's beautiful farmland.
Is this place
hopping or is it dead in the summer?
Gstaad
does get the tour bus crowd but it's day-trippers.
Is there a lake and/or golf course in town?
There's a golf course in a neighboring town.
Arriving by
car the only option?
The train
will drop you off in the center of town.
Does the place feel claustrophobic?
No.
Lots of choices
for acccomodations (hotels/ chalets) and do I have recommendations?
There
are four ***** star hotels, 10 ****star, and 10 *** star accommodations.
Nothing lower than *** stars.
Could I spend
a whole summer here or would I get bored?
Yes, Gstaad
would be a great place to spend the summer. |
